Kimberley Sankar has been a volunteer at the Menphys shop since September 2011. Only since her youngest son, Cory, has been at primary school has Kimberley been able to give the time.
She does so very willingly – her husband’s sister died aged 13 in 2002. She had cerebral palsy and she and her family had benefited from the expertise and support of Menphys.
“She did all the activities and went on day trips,” says Kim. “The family were so grateful for everything that Menphys did to help.”
“I work for Menphys because I appreciate the charity and it is a nice way to meet people. It fits in with the schooling of my three children,” says Kim, who enjoyed dressing the window of the Carlisle Street shop ready for Christmas 2011.
“It makes me happy, meeting the staff and local people and making new friends.”
Like most other voluntary staff in the Menphys shop, Kimdonates clothes and bric-a-brac as well as her time on Wednesday and Friday mornings.
If you would like to help in the shop, please telephone manager Melanie Gordon on 0116 255 2469.
