Caring for local children and young people with disabilities...supporting the family.
The Chairman of the Board – Mr. Peter Smith.
Peter has been involved with Menphys since his mother, Audrey Smith MBE,
was the driving force behind the charity being established.
He has served as a trustee for many years and has been Chairman since 2002
Peter is a local solicitor and also acts as solicitor for the charity.
The Executive Director - Mr. Peter Coopey.
Peter has spent thirty years in special education and was head of The Menphys Centre
in Wigston between 1987 and 1992.
He has a son with severe physical difficulties so is aware of both the professional
and parental perspectives on the work of Menphys.
The Service Manager for SOS – Mrs. Lyn Edwards.
Lyn Edwards trained as a nurse in London, specialising in Paediatric Oncology.
Whilst bringing up her three daughters Lyn was a registered childminder –
and then went on to foster three other children all of whom had disabilities
and special educational needs. In 1995 Lyn was appointed as project leader of the
emerging Menphys Special Outreach Service.
Lyn has led the project through a number of phases of development until the present day.
Fundraising and Marketing Manager – David Peake
Coming from a corporate sales and marketing background, David Peake has been involved in the charity / not for profit sector since 2002 both voluntarily,
as a fundraiser for the Leicester branch of the Samaritans and professionally, working for both Vista the Leicestershire Society for the Blind and the Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living.
David joined Menphys in September 2009 as Fundraising and Marketing Manager.
