Shop now accepts electrical items
Menphys has become one of the very few charities in Leicester and Leicestershire to accept donations of electrical appliances for sale in its shop.
Executive Director of Menphys, Mr Peter Coopey, has undergone PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) training and is now qualified to inspect moveable electrical appliances weighing up to 18kg and to certify that they are safe.
He visually inspects each appliance, checks the plug and the fuse and checks that the item is working.
Anyone wishing to donate working electrical appliances – but not televisions – or books, clothes and games to the shop can call manager Melanie Gordon on 0116 255 2469 or take them there.
The charity relies heavily on its shop to raise the £500,000 a year it needs to provide its services.
