This is a call for help from Menphys

Following the awful explosion on the Hinckley Road last Sunday, our charity shop (which was next door) was deemed structurally unsound. Whilst it is still standing (but only just), we have been told that it is very likely it will be demolished this week.  We were given only five minutes last week (under police escort) to remove anything of value and empty the safe etc.  The stock had been ruined with smoke damage and debris from the collapse of the ceiling.

This plea for help is nothing compared to the loss of life. We are extremely upset as we knew the family who died really well.  The mum visited our shop every day. Our thoughts and prayers are for the family, for the community and our wonderful shop staff and volunteers, so deeply affected by this.

We are calling-out for new stock for the shop in readiness for when we can move.

We really hope that you can support us in these difficult times.  The items we would be looking for are:  Clothing (incl. children’s clothing), books, DVDs, CD’s, small gifts and bric-a-brac, small electrical items, toys, jigsaw puzzles, board games, jewellery, bags and shoes. We are also looking for shop fittings such as coat hangers, hanging rails, mannequins and shelving racks for display.

If you have a spare half an hour would you be able to gather together any unwanted items?  If you could also ask your friends and family.

Items can be delivered to our offices at:

Menphys, Unit B Best House, Grange Business Park, Enderby Road, Whetstone, LE8 6EP

Thank you for your help.
