Employees at Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products facility at Desford have been busy voting to select a nominated charity who hold a special place for them. Following the results, Leicestershire charity Menphys was delighted to get the call to say that they had been selected as Caterpillar’s nominated charity 2017/18, after being initially proposed by employee Zane Thompson.
Lyn Edwards, Menphys Executive Director, said: “We are delighted to be working together with Caterpillar, who understands our values as a charity. We are grateful to them for their financial support and we are looking forward to working together to develop new strategies in supporting children and young people with disabilities across Leicester and Leicestershire.”
The £5,000 donation, to mark the start of the partnership, came from the Caterpillar Cares Society which distributes money donated by employees to local good causes.
Tony Carr, Desford Facility Manager, commented: “We are thrilled about our partnership with Menphys and are excited about supporting them and getting our employees involved. We hope our support enables them to continue their great work with young people across the county. Caterpillar is committed to being an active member of the communities where our employees work and live.”
