Dedicated triathletes from David Lloyd clubs Narborough, Leicester competed with a swim, cycle and run to raise money for Menphys; a local charity which serves children and young people with a wide range of physical, learning, communication, sensory, emotional and behavioural difficulties, including complex health care needs.
Setting off on Saturday afternoon, Tom Judd led the pack, winning with an overall time of 1hour, 15 minutes and 44 seconds. Runners-up included, his mum Sarah Judd, Esham Litt and Dave Muddimer.
David Lloyd rounded up their members to support the triathletes and organised a raffle and a bouncy castle in support of the event which raised over £300 for Menphys.
James Longmore, General Manager, said
‘We were delighted and honoured to support Menphys. The charity does fantastic things for children and young people and we are proud of how much our members got behind the event. A big well done to all of the participants who entered into the Triathlon as well.’
The families and children supported by Menphys are truly grateful of the time and effort given by local businesses. Carolyn Pascoe, Fundraising & Marketing Manager, commented, ‘David Lloyd has helped us to raise valuable funds to support families and disabled children in Leicester and Leicestershire so that we can offer valuable advice, guidance, clubs, respite for families and taster activities for children. We certainly couldn’t do this without the kindness of our local business community.’
