MENPHYS SKETCHLEY HILL
Caring for local children and young people with disabilities...supporting the family.
The nursery teaches children aged 2 - 5 years with a wide range of difficulties and special educational needs. Places at the nursery are allocated by a panel consisting of Headteacher, Health Care worker and representatives from the Special Educational Needs Assessment Team and the Educational Psychology Service. Most children start on a part time basis and also attend a local playgroup or other pre-school provision.
Emphasis is placed on the abilities and needs of the individual and an appropriate programme is designed for each child. Visiting professionals who support the children include: Autism Outreach Staff, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and teachers for the visually or hearing impaired.
The nursery sees parents as partners who know a great deal about their child and they are always welcome to visit the nursery.
There is no doubt that more children with autism are being diagnosed. Click on the side bar – Children With Autism for more information.
