THE INCLUSION FIELD WORKER

Caring for local children and young people with disabilities...supporting the family.

The crucial part of the work of an Inclusion Fieldworker is building a relationship with a family – valuing the family and their experiences is at the heart of what Menphys aims for.

One of their key aims is to help children and young people be aware of the opportunities for sport, play and leisure available to them. This might mean searching out a particular activity that a youngster wants to try and then training and supporting staff to make it accessible to a person with a disability.

Inclusion Fieldworkers play a key role in coordinating the various agencies that can be involved with a family – and ensuring that the family feel confident to voice their views and preferences at planning and review meetings.

The team also organise family events, which as well as being great fun, allow families to meet up and share experiences in an informal and enjoyable way.

Other work included supporting families with benefit claims, gathering information and directing people to the appropriate services...........and sometimes we do the best thing of all .....WE LISTEN!
