Menphys provides training opportunities on disability awareness and inclusion to Early Years Providers across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland. We run two types of courses:-
· A half day non accredited course on disability awareness
· A 30 hour accredited course usually run over 10 – 2½ hour sessions in the evening
The accredited course details
Course Title: Menphys SOS Working with children and Young People with disabilities
The course is accredited with the National Open College Network. This particular unit is part of the Health and Social Care sector. It can be seen as a stand-alone qualification or you can use the credits to add to other units within the sector. Past students have added the qualifications to their CV and see this as part of their own professional development.
Overview:
The aim of this course is to enable participants to understand the needs and rights of disabled children, young people and their families. It also aims to develop their skills to include disabled children, and children with complex needs into their settings.
Designed for:
Early Years Childcare Providers but it can be adapted for providers working with young people with disabilities
Duration: 30 hours divided over 10 sessions
Level: Two (This is comparable to NVQ Level 2, GCSEs A* to C and Higher Diploma)
Credit Value: 3 Sector: 1.3 – Health and social care
