Saturday Clubs

Our Saturday clubs aim to give equal opportunities to play, develop and achieve whilst building relationships and friendships

The Menphys Saturday Clubs offer opportunities for children and young people with a range of disabilities to meet within a friendly, supportive and needs-led environment to socialise and have fun. Our highly trained staff support members with a wide range of activities designed to promote social interaction, communication and choice whilst developing confidence, self-belief and independence skills. My son has attended Menphys Saturday Club for a couple of years and loves it. He is autistic with learning difficulties, gets anxious, has limited speech and struggles to make friends.  Menphys Saturday club has helped him develop his speech and social skills.

Saturday Club has given our daughter with high functioning autism to thrive, be happy, make friends and be herself.  She looks forward to her weekly session and has made friends outside of school.

Menphys Saturday Clubs provides our young people with special needs/disabilities a club they can attend without parents or carers at the weekend where they can play, socialise, make new friends and take part in new activities in a safe environment supported by brilliant staff & volunteers.  Menphys is the only organisation in our area to offer this (especially for the 16+ age group), which gives our children/young adult the opportunity to access a club (that so many children without disabilities take for granted and have a greater choice) and parents some free time at the weekend, and for some parents probably the only respite they get.

I'm very grateful for the Saturday Club as it brings a smile on my son’s face every week.  It also gives me a chance to have some time with my other son for 3 hours.

The club is well managed by Jessica Buckley and her excellent team who are always really friendly and know L.  The meet and greet is always efficient and hand over at the end always has a briefing as to what happened during the session.  Menphys club has given my stepson the opportunity to develop some independence and the opportunity to join in with activities that he cannot get at other non-specialist mainstream clubs where he would be left out or even teased by the more "able" members.  Menphys club gives him time to meet and socialise with children who are like him in a safe, happy environment.
